Spellbinders | Spring in Kyoto Collection | Alex Syberia
Hello crafty friends!
Today I’m sharing two handmade cards inspired by the elegance and delicacy of traditional Japanese art, featuring the stunning Spring in Kyoto collection by Alex Syberia for Spellbinders. This collection is a dream come true for detail lovers, floral fans, and texture enthusiasts.
Card #1
For my first card, “For You” sentiment, I started with a vertical white A2 card base. In the center, I added a vellum panel that I spritzed with Fossilized Amber Distress Spritz to create a soft golden shimmer. I layered a metallic gold arch frame on top to create a window effect.
The focal point is the gorgeous fan created with the Fan & Bow Etched dies, embossed using the Floral Fans 3D embossing folder—both part of the same collection. I shaded the edges with a Prismacolor pencil in Strawberry Pink for added depth.
The florals were created using the Blossoms & Sentiments BetterPress Plate and Die Set, colored with Prismacolors and arranged diagonally on opposite corners for balance. I added the “For You” sentiment in BetterPress Brown Ink on a vertical banner in the top right corner. A golden bow and a mini White Fashion Oyster embellishment for the final touch and look.
Card #2
For my second card, I couldn’t resist using the Floral Fans 3D embossing folder again—this time on a mustard yellow panel that beautifully showcased the texture.
I die cut two fans using the Fan & Bow Etched dies, one in dusty pink and one in soft green, each backed with white and softly ink-blended around the edges.
I placed the Fan & Bow diagonally over the embossed panel and added the “Thank You” sentiment from the Blossoms & Sentiments BetterPress Plate and Die Set, stamped vertically in BetterPress Brown Ink.
These cards are a lovely way to express gratitude and warmth, and it was so fun showcasing how versatile and artistic the Spring in Kyoto collection can be.
