Spellbinders | Smile | My Life in Pictures

Today I’m sharing this cheerful birthday card I created using the Golden Afternoon – My Life in Pictures die collection from Spellbinders. These dies are so much fun! You can create endless combinations with them—and this project is just one example.

I started with a red A4 cardstock base. For the focal point, I die cut the filmstrip twice in black cardstock. I then die cut the word Smile once in gold and three times in white to layer it for dimension, setting it aside while I prepared the background.

For the background panel, I embossed white cardstock using the Balloons & Banners embossing folder from the Spellbinders May 2023 Kit of the Month. I love this folder—it’s packed with celebration vibes: balloons, banners, and texture! I added a spritz of Fossilized Amber Distress Spritz to create a shiny splatter effect. I also distressed the edges with my mini distress edger for an extra touch of texture.

Attached the filmstrip with foam adhesive to give it depth and placed the Smile sentiment on top. To complement the message, I added “It’s your day to sparkle” from the Confetti Burst Glimmer of the Month set, foiled in gold on black cardstock using my Glimmer Hot Foil System—it shines beautifully and ties everything together.

Once all the elements were in place, I adhered everything to the red card base. I love how fast and easy it was to create this project using these fun and versatile dies—they work with any style or occasion!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed my cards and will give this gorgeous collection a look!
