You Are Egg-stra Special Card with Cute Chubby Bunnies and Pastel Eggs

 Hi my peeps!

Some cards make you smile the moment you lay eyes on them — no permission needed. This handmade Easter card is exactly that: two adorably chubby little bunnies, pastel-colored eggs in a wooden wagon, and a message that goes straight to the heart: "You Are Egg-Stra Special to Me." 

In this post I'm sharing how this special Easter card came together, the materials I used, and all the little details that make it truly one of a kind. A piece that blends technique, color, and a tenderness that is simply impossible to resist. 

The inspiration came from that magical springtime feeling that Easter brings: wildflowers, soft colors, and the contagious joy that chubby little bunnies seem to carry everywhere they go. The floral decorative paper in shades of blue, pink, and yellow creates the perfect backdrop for each character to come alive with full personality.


I began with the white A2 cardstock base, where I distinct and divide two zones on the front from the start: the upper section covered with the cheerful spring floral paper bursting with color and the lower strip featuring an elegant embossed leaf-texture paper that adds a soft, sophisticated contrast to the overall design.

The dotted border circle die cut was then placed at the center of the upper section, creating that visual window that organizes the entire composition and naturally draws the eye toward the main characters. Against that joyful floral background, every detail gets the attention it deserves. 



Then came the most magical part — coloring the bunnies. Each one was stamped, carefully colored with Prismacolor pencils and cut using my silhouette Cameo to preserve every curve of those irresistibly chubby little bodies. The bunny at the top holds his little basket of eggs with quiet contentment, while the one at the bottom enthusiastically pulls the wooden wagon loaded with Easter eggs in yellow, pink, and lilac. Both were mounted with foam tape to give them dimension that makes them practically leap off the card.

The wooden wagon the warm yellow of the wood contrasts beautifully with the soft pastel eggs, while the touch of green grass adds a fresh, natural energy to the scene.

To visually divide the two sections of the card, a strand of natural twine was layered across the middle, bringing in that organic, rustic element that balances all the sweetness beautifully. The lilac oval die-cut banner stamped with "You Are Egg-Stra Special to Me" was mounted over the twine with dimensional adhesive, becoming the perfect finishing statement for the entire composition.

The final touches came in the form of yellow, orange, and clear gems and sequins scattered intentionally across the background — adding sparkle and movement without overwhelming the design. 

Materials Used

This Easter card is proof that handmade always travels further than anything store-bought. Every colored character, every foam-mounted layer, every gem placed with intention — all of that is time, love, and dedication that the person receiving it will absolutely feel.
